The only mechanical flaw in the design of the 1911, IMO, is the split feed ramp. I have my 1911s refit
with integral feed ramp, with fully supported chambers, barrels. Other stuff like the wide grip s...

  • Posted in thread: Marlin 336 questions on 05/25/2012 at 4:33AM
After you get things tightened up, consider getting rid of the rear sight. Unfortunately the receivers
are no longer drilled and tapped for receiver sights. The last couple of Marlins I got I had to h...

  • Posted in thread: Pro 2nd amendment democrats. on 05/22/2012 at 4:16AM
This is spot on , if you can set a situation up that will allow a politician to benefit themselves in
some way they will vote/fight for it every time. If you can not do that you need to prove to them ...

  • Posted in thread: Marlin 336 questions on 05/21/2012 at 8:12AM
The muzzle end of the magazine tube is secured with what Marlin calls a magazine tube stud which is
dovetailed into the barrel. If the dovetailed fitting is loose in the dovetail, the tube will feel l...

  • Posted in thread: which would you rather own? springfield XD or glock on 05/16/2012 at 7:22AM
Of course it is merely a personal preference, but I don’t like either the XD or Glock. I prefer the SIG
226 and CZ-75, but I probably like the 1911 best, but I am an old guy.

My stainless 226 9mm looks just like that, E2 grip and all. I did add the short reach trigger. I have
large hands and I still prefer the short trigger.

I found a 1022M when they were still being made. I did the same thing with mine that I did with my other
1022: rebuilt it. It now has a 20” SS GM barrel with a Kidd trigger in a Hogue stock. It shoots...

  • Posted in thread: The Harris Mod on 05/08/2012 at 7:12AM
While you are looking into issues associated with the op rod and gas block, you might want to consider
installing a smaller gas port bushing and a stainless gas pipe if your gun is blued. The smaller ...

  • Posted in thread: silent round on 05/08/2012 at 6:53AM
The full power round that I have found to be very quiet is the RWS Subsonic HP. My CZ 452 particularly
likes it, and in its 25” barrel it is amazingly quite. I have shot it in my bullet trap in the ba...

  • Posted in thread: .22 Handgun on 04/30/2012 at 7:17AM
I grew up shooting rifles and shotguns but haven't ever shot handguns with any degree of seriousness. I
recently bought a Ruger GP-100 chambered to .357. After a few trips to the range, I realized I s...
