CMJ, welcome to the forum. Your experience reinforces my decision not to buy any Remington
firearms until The Freedom Group sells the brand to someone who 1. cares about firearms, 2.
    knows how to run ...

I have a Vanguard S2 in .308 and love it. It is very accurate (9/16" groups with Remington
CoreLokt 180gr), functions reliably and the fit/finish is great. It has a smooth two-stage
    trigger, which bre...

After much wavering and bugging others for advice I got off the dime and bought a Weatherby
SA08 20g today. I can pick it up tomorrow. Now the wife and I are both equipped to shoot this

Ok, I took the plunge and sold my Ruger Red Label 12g to Cabelas. They rated it at 98% and gave
me $750. I know a private sale would have netted me more money, but I did not want to deal with
    the admi...

Is the Remington 783 just a re-branded version of the Marlin X7 (they are both owned by The
    Freedom Group)?

If you do not have your heart set on a Remington, I would consider other rifle brands such as
Savage (11/111), Tikka (T3), and Weatherby (Vanguard S2). The past few years Remington's QC has
    dropped an...

I recommend 7MM-08, .308 (if .308 reappears in stores after the post Sandy Hook 'military' ammo
run), and if you are making longer shots but do not want to much recoil 25-06 and 270.

Since .308 is nowhere to be found after the run on 'military' ammo, the 7mm-08 is a great
choice, especially if you reload.Have you considered the Weatherby Vanguard S2? It is very well
    made, accurate...

  • Posted in thread: 270 and 7mm-08 question on 02-02-2013 at 12:00 PM
If you want availability and lower priced ammo, go with the .270 (or .308, or 30-06, for that
matter). Seven mm-08 is a great round, but it is relatively expensive and there is not much
    selection out ...
