    Additionally it is a shame that there is no #. 25xxx to 36xxx were imported to US and Confed
    troops. This according to NRA website. However they were stated as pin fire.

    I have a lefaucheux also. Curiosly enough mine too is missing the guard and rod. I have heard
    that a star over a letter is a repro from italy. Can any one help with that ?

    An easy way to tell also if you have a reproduction is look at the barrel. In the old days they
    did not mark them "use black powder only" This is just a general remark as I did not look at
    the pic aft...

    Dave Taylor's civil war website has an occasional authentic musket for sale. Sharps, Burnside,
    and few others I cant think of right now. the site also has all kinds of swords, pics and other
    civil war...
