I use a 30/06 for about everything, including 1000 + yards. From what I have read the 260 will
do everything the 308 will only better. Less recoil and doesn't burn barrels. The 6.5's are
getting more ...Posted in thread: New Long range caliber, just for target shooting? on 04-21-2012 at 11:54 AM
30/06 - Best choice of bullets, cheap brass, long barrel life, better ballistics than the 308.
Con= recoil and lack of rifle choices.Next comes 260- Savage predator ready to go entry level

I would prefer the older pre-64 Winchesters, 700 BDL's of the 60's, older Sako's(never had one)
in rifles.Pre-64 Winchester shotguns, any Beretta's semi-auto's, any Browning O/U's & sxs 20

I bought a new R77ST for $180 and had it all these years. I never liked the stock fit compared
to the M70. The original trigger was fair. It is a little muzzle light, and the action isn't

I'd rather have the pre-64 if using open sights and being lighter and handier. It is "the" deer
rifle. They hold value better. The 336 gets the nod with a scope. I've got both. $400 for a new
one soun...Posted in thread: .270 .308 or 30-06 on 10-27-2011 at 11:36 AM
I've shot a lot of .243 and 30/06 ammo. The '06 is the best all around but for deer and
varmints the .243 wins. Flatter shooting, safer, cheaper to load, and a lot less recoil.Posted in thread: model 94 in 30 30 or an underfolder ak in 7.62? on 10-27-2011 at 11:25 AM
If you reload with 160FTX bullets it is possible to improve the 30/30. I handled an AK once and
wouldn't have one. After shooting conventional firearms all my life the AR's and AK's don't
feel right, ...Posted in thread: Gun Cleaning Input on 10-04-2011 at 03:01 AM
12 gauge auto gets cleaned after shooting with Hoppes #9. Shooters Choice is good about getting

Typically, store front business costs more, and their higher overhead has to be picked up.
Also, most gun shops are mom and pops, and can't compete with the mega stores and warehouse

Sometimes I wonder where local dealers come up their suppliers and why, since they are so much
higher than others. Just saving on taxes helps. The Govt. will just blow it anyhow.
