  I have not disassembled it yet. I am planning to go to the range this weekend. I'll try a few
  things before I buy another mag or send the gun back to Springfield for repair etc.

  Thanks for your reply SGT-Miller. I haven't had problem with the fingers but it seems my thumb
  may be touching the slide lock. I'll have to try not to touch the slide lock next time I'm at
  the range. ...
