You would need to rezero anyway. If you change bullets even a 150 for a different 150 you need
to rezero before hunting. Not always true, barrel harmonics can give you the same POI with
    different weigh...

6.5x55 is great if you handload, if not I would go with the 6.5 Creedmore. The 25-06 is a great
yote-deer gun but not a great LR target cartridge, .257 cal bullets lack the crazy high BC that
    6.5s hav...

  • Posted in thread: Fmj= barrel wear? on 10-27-2013 at 03:44 PM
Barrel wear is the result of highly overbore cartridges, and/or mild steel barrels. FMJ/JSP/JHP
or even poly tips have nothing to do with it. Now there might be some steel core ammo that does
    not conf...

  • Posted in thread: 300 Sav Rem 150CL vs Hornady 150SST Test on 10-27-2013 at 03:13 PM
Not all of my rifles like SSTs, but for those that do shoot bug holes with them. I often go
back and forth between SSTs and my other "go to" the legendary Sierra Game King. Another great
    up and coming...

I never have played with "match" bullets, but it is hard imagining anything shooting any better
then my Sierra Game Kings/Pro Hunters and in some rifles my Hornady SSTs.Yes I know "match"
    bullets are ...

Yeah Ruger has been making a really good product as of late, I don't know if they are quite as
accurate as the Savage but I love the Mauser style actions and their wood stocks are fantastic.

I spent three weeks hunkered down with no gas to go anywhere, no phone, no power, and taking
care of some friends of mine and their three children. I was cooking whatever food we could
    scrounge up on ...

  • Posted in thread: New bolt action 7mm-08 on 10-27-2013 at 02:03 PM
Oh yes the 7mm-08 can do the trick, I have a couple friends up north that use them for
elk/moose class game, so I am by no means saying it is inadequate, just saying that all else
    being the same I wou...

  • Posted in thread: New bolt action 7mm-08 on 10-27-2013 at 01:50 PM
I shoot, hunt with and reload for both the 7mm-08 and 308, a contest between them would come
down to how big the game is I am hunting and at what range. For general purpose deer hunting
    the 7mm-08 has...

  • Posted in thread: What rifle/caliber is best? on 10-27-2013 at 01:43 PM
308, 7mm-08, 260 they are all good, that little case works well with everything from
.243cal-.358 cal depending on the exact results you are looking for. IMHO the 7mm-08 and 260
    have the best balance ...
