  • Posted in thread: what was everyones first gun? on 05/18/2012 at 12:42PM
My first gun was given to me by my favorite Uncle. It was an M16 and he gave it to me at Ft Knox in 1970,
    soon after I Enlisted.

It depends what you want to use the shotgun for. My main concern is personal protection so I started with
a Mossberg 930. It comes with a 7+1 capacity, embedded Picatinny Rail, ghost sights, and more....

  • Posted in thread: A good .40 caliber for concealed carry on 01/20/2012 at 12:31AM
I started with a Beretta 96D years ago on advice of a LEO who loved it. I am not a big fan of it now
however. It's not made anymore, so I guess others agree. The Ruger SR40c my wife uses, though, is f...

It all depends what your purpose is. Mine is defense with a lot of friendly competition thrown in for
fun. Defense means semi-auto for highest volume of fire, not bolt action. It means magazines and a...

  • Posted in thread: AK semi vs AK auto on 12/28/2011 at 4:05PM
Full auto increases testosterone, but that's about it. One well-placed, well-aimed round is better than
all the "spray and pray" in the world. The Brits and the Argentines used the same rifle in the F...

It all depends on the mission. Are you going on days-long LRRP's? Then you probably want small and light
... something in 5.56. Assaulting an apartment house? Definitely small and light... and maybe b...

  • Posted in thread: I dislike the Trigger on the Glock what other pistols should I avoid. on 12/27/2011 at 4:03PM
This 40cal POS is the worst handgun I have ever encountered. My company gave it to me, I would never have
chosen it. It has no safety. To compensate for that safety-wise, they made a trigger pull that...

  • Posted in thread: What should I look for in a semi-auto on 11/10/2010 at 11:44PM
I'm just an old retired Army guy. I know that young Soldiers in Iraq I met up with liked Mossberg,
especially the semi-auto 930 SPX. I've had mine for two years and never had a single failure, firing ...

  • Posted in thread: What gun would you reach for? on 10/31/2010 at 10:13AM
My vote would be for an M1A. M14 is a proven military design, but the REAL issue is range. The official
"max effective range" of a 223 firing M4 is 660 meters. The max effective range of the 7.62x54 N...

Saiga 308's come with two 8 round mags. This keeps it a "sport model". You have to add American made
parts to make it 922R compliant in order to use hi cap mags. (Google 922R for explanations.) Saiga ...
