The Garand was etched with letter "A" becuase there was another rifle stored in same location
with the same serial, it may or may not have been a Garand. They were not etched just becuase
of the seria...

Personally I dont see any sense in stock piling parts . If your rifle is in spec you will not
in your lifetime wear out anything unless maybe you shoot thousnads of rounds a year. Springs

Critteon is the only one making barrels but they are to expensive.Are there sources for new old
stock parts?.Criterion is not the only company making Garand barrels, there are several options

Back in the 1960s the Navy converted the M-1 rifles to .308 with a chamber insert. These were
sealed in with locktitEAs you say the first Navy garads had a insert. It was not held in place
