there are many "gas block height" front flip up sights that are not made of polymer....just google it or look on Cheaper than Dirt for ideas on pricing etc.....these ones are all meant to be mounted...

price is great but the use of the pins to hold it on makes me think how easy the pins can get lost. The Raven version just snaps in place and is held on pretty tight.
