H&R

I like and trust H&R, or NEF. Got a 686 with an 8" barrel years ago. A small one in a ziplock with desiccant could fit the belt, too! Thanks! Looks like Uberti makes a single action twelve-shooter...

Down East

Interesting perspective on the Carteret area! My retirement home is in that fishing area near Harker's Island. And all those swamps in the river basins can get scary.

But I was more curious about...

Coming home to Carteret

I've been out of state since the last century, but will be coming home this fall. What do I need to look out for in eastern NC? What good things are going on? Is there a movement toward...

Savage Model 24

I just got a new Savage 24, .30-30 over 12 gauge. It appears to be the perfect bear-hog-deer gun for thick woods and swamps. Anyone have experience with this?

Same genus, different species

There are almost as many Handi Rifle barrels as Thompson Contender. All break to breach load. I have .22 Hornet and .44 Magnum. That's about as extreme as it gets! :)

As long as we are on the surface of the Earth, using the weight of the bullet will do. 158 grains is 28 grains more than 130. Convert grains to a fraction of pounds, multiply it by the SQUARE of the...

Yep, or very close to 150 yard sight. If I use the small notch for 50 yds, and the post rises to center, then between the top "horns" may be 150. Experimentation is in order.
