A compass is the big one for me. I'm not an experienced orienteer but I generally know if I'm north or south of the road. Just sometimes it's hard to tell which way is north.

Most of what I read says hand forged is better. Check out a couple issues of Blade magazine. Maybe next summer I'll build a forge. After the garage.:cool: The grinding shop is being finished now.
