It would be More economical to refinish the stock, this would be a good idea as long as the stock is not split and doesn't have any cracks. There are many tutorials online for doing so.

The guns are wiped down with an oiled rag and the stocks are oiled. Also, I use Ballistol. I wouldn't say the guns are soaking .
