Have to say that i really didnt pay attention. My first patch looks every bit as black as before i did the break in but it cleans up with maybe two or three less patched when its all said and done....

What happens if the lug were to not be taped and only release agent applied? I keep reading about the need for firm contact between the entire action to the stock bedding so why does this not apply...

Well, i just did the 1 shot-clean for 25 rounds...
Well, i just did the 1 shot-clean for 25 rounds followed up by two sets of 3 shots-clean, followed up by a 5 shots-clean and finally a 10 shots-clean. I cant tell any difference in my cleaning pads...

Thanks- those videos are helpful. With an H-S stock that has the aluminum bedding block, would you say its necessary to carve out any of the area behind the lug, as is recommended with wood stocks?

Yes I saw those as well but it was the ones that were in the 200-300+ dollar range that I was refering to. Just learning- didn't realize there was that broad of an application for bottom metal.
