If the 40 cal case was longer you could form 357 sig casings from 40 s&w casings. The sig round basically is a40 necked down to hold a9mm bullet. Its not a true 357 its a 355.

Five or six rounds just ain't enough. A couple bad guys plus adrenaline plus a few misses equals reloading a revolver in the middle of a gunfight. Imo much harder than clearing ajam.
