I have the XDm-9, and it is very sweet! Shoots really well, and the trigger is an improvement over the service models.

I also have the XD45 and the XD40sc; they are all great.

I haven't considered any finishes. I, too, have seen many variants. I'll probably just stick with the plain black for the first build.
