I appreciate any post that attempts to answer my question. It's not too late.

With all due respect, the Point-of-Impact (POI) does change when you adjust the scope. If it didn't, why would you...

Thanks bluzman. Lots of good info on scopes. It doesn't answer my question, though. In fact, the A-B-C diagrams show the same thing as the diagram in my original post. If screwing an elevation...

What happens when you turn a turret?

I'm confused. Here is a picture that supposedly shows how an erector tube is moved by the scope adjustment turrets. It shows the elevation turret at 12:00, the windage turret at 3:00 and an...

Hmm. That's interesting. I didn't even notice the "Recommended Firearms" tab and it's very curious that other Savage models are not listed. I WILL be talking to Savage about that. Thanks for that...

Good ideas Triumphman. Reversing the bases is worth a try. I would expect and it looks to be that the hole spacing is the same on both bases. The bases are currently as they are pictured on a...

Yes, this does make sense to me. If they are misaligned, why are they? These are what Leupold sells for the Model 110 which, at the present time, I believe is equivalent to the Model 112. Here is...

Here are quick answers to all of the questions and comments.

Scope Mounting Problem

I recently purchased and installed Leupold two-piece Dual Dovetail bases and rings on a long-range Savage 112 BVSS rifle. I then mounted an inexpensive but normal Tasco 10-40x50 mm scope with a 1"...

[QUOTE=Mercator;1480392]Your hand does not flex the barrel like a tuning fork. It only shifts the stock relative to the barreled action (or you could say it vice versa)

I think I understand how...

Yes, it surprised me too. I also knew that barrels bend and vibrate when firing but didn't know you can cause it to happen and see deflection by pushing up and down or sideways with your hand. Like...

Barrel Movement

I've recently observed that if I push and pull on the end of the barrel of a heavy-barreled, long-range Savage 112 BVSS, I can see the free-floating barrel move relative to the stock. The action is...

It is a Hoppe's (or Outers?) phosphor bronze brush. The shaft is silver-colored but I believe it is not aluminum and is probably steel because it is strongly attracted to a magnet (and not just the...
