It's coming along real nice, wj69! Nice to document your build in a thread for all to see. I'm sure it's helping many who're thinking of taking the plunge.

I hope it's not that high but no doubt most people won't accept a malfunctioning firearm. Often the problem is user error, as with many other products especially electronics.

I rarely have a...

Same here, I've caught more sales of M193. Both work well in my rifles and I rarely care about reaching out beyond 300 yards. I buy very little of the heavier stuff (more than M855). Odds are I won't...

Welcome, IR!

I was introduced to the M16 in 1968, about the same time as you - which was fortunate since the chrome lined M16A1 had been introduced. I think you've gotten good advice, nothing...

For me, I have a love/hate relationship with Ruger. I bought my first one in 1973 and now have several. Generally they make fine firearms but then they do the stupidest things. Usually things that...

Good to know about Taco Bell's "violence" policy. But sometimes ya just gotta grab a cheap taco! Good thing Del Taco has better Mexican fast food than Taco Bell. And cheaper. I like their taco salad...

Oh no, Doc! Hang on to that M1A if you can, there's room for both. Though I love my new ArmaLite 308 I'm keeping my M1A Scout Squad.

"Tactical" loosely conjures up "semiauto" for me. Tactical .308 makes me think AR-10 which can be had at right at a grand. Other 308 AR brands can be found cheaper.

Glad you found one in stock, Radco, ARs might get harder to find as the election nears. The Sport seems to be a good AR for the money, I doubt you'll be unhappy with it.

I agree. Also swapping handguards isn't something most people do that often and if you do, then use the buddy system or buy a cheap tool.

Of the two, I prefer the M&P Sport II over the AR-556 because of better components. But I wouldn't buy either, normally I do an AR build instead since I can get even better parts for the money (PSA...

Nah, San Francisco is a sanctuary city. They can't tarnish their reputation of keeping the low life that most people would kick out.

Well anyway, next time you call Ruger ask them if they're going to fix their BCG problem. They really need to address that, especially with the SR-556.

Ruger needs to fix their BCGs. Not many other brands still use an unshrouded carrier! At least you can buy a new one for the DI version but with the piston SR-556 it's harder to solve the problem....

They should fit but mixing different brand 308 AR receivers can be a problem. Since you're machining the lower, I'd expect you can solve any minor fitment issue. If PSA PA-10 lowers came in stock I'd...
