Very Cool Thanks for the extra effort to help those of us stranded behind a firewall at work.

I'll try it tomorrow.

Very Cool

Thanks for the added benefit. Though I don't get here often, it's nice to know there's a place I can research behind the firewall at work.

I'll try it out tomorrow.

Walther

Wasn't aware S&W "bought" Walther. I just thought S&W was their importer and had license to manufacture some of their designs. (e.g. PPK)

The Walther P99 is made by Walther in Germany. Not to...

We've had this discussion recently somewhere else.....can't seem to see clearly through the fog though.

I like .22s where the front and rear sights are fixed in relationship to the barrel. ...

First Handgun

The first handgun was my great uncle's S&W Military Police, 6" .38Spl, nickeled (or what was left of it.)

The first one I bought was a Ruger Blackhawk in .357Mag. Long since gone.

RE: P99 Weight and Feel

Like all polymers it is light and top heavy especially when empty. So yes there is, compared with my 1911, a light-weight feel. I wouldn't call it cheap. Just light weight. Different. Remember...

Ruger MK I

I do harbor ill feelings about Ruger gun control fiasco a while back.

HOWEVER, that said I really like the MK x series because the barrel and sights are all fixed together. I like it better...

Uh-Oh ..... Now you've done it.

Now you got me thinking.

I was happy with my Colt Target Woodsman and my Ruger Mk I, but now........I don't know. I'm thinking I need a P22 to round out my Walther collection.
Let's see:

Understand

I think that's a good idea to stick with an all metal for your first one. If you at all think you might participate in practical/tactical competition, go see what models the top competitors use.

Walther P99

I like my recently purchased Walther P99

The magazine release is ambi and the decoker easy to operate from either side. Only non-ambi feature is the slide hold open which is on the left side...

Keeping the Thread Alive

I was 22 when I bought my 1911 back in 1971 (Colt Model 70).

I still own it and like to shoot it. Over the years, I've put on a flat main spring housing, a recoil buffer and adjustable sights.
