So academy couldn't pull through. I'm now left with either a savage mark II or marlin xt 22 at 149.99. So hard to choose!? It lowered in price because of a coupon that came about for a local gun...

I did decided to go with marlin simply because it is made in the USA. I found too many good reviews for each brand so that was the determining factor. Plus it felt great in my hands.

The reason I don't want a lever action is because my brother has the Henry golden boy. We are trying to diversify our gun collection. And honestly I happen to prefer bolt action over any other action...

Thank you guys for the quick response! I think I remember carrying the marlin xt22 and felt that it was very barrel heavy. I also carried the savage mark 2 f and it's weight seemed much more evenly...
