I was just trying to make the point that its not as simple as buying a cheap gun and dropping in a bunch of drop in parts. This is intended for new 1911 owners as a help to avoid common mistakes.

Grips are all about feel, on one of my colts I have chip slim grips and I cut some skateboard tape for the front strap. I tend to carry that one in inclement weather conditions.

I am glad to hear that yours are not bad. I don't know how much you shoot but in the roughly 5k rounds on mine there is about a 8.5% failure rate which dq's them from carry for me.

If it were me I would look into some higher quality magazines. I go with Tripp, Wilson combat 47ds or chip's. Try a bunch of brands and find what works well. Its much easier to get a mag that works...
