Thats as small as I would want to go but you can get by with less for just a few lights...

And your correct the H4350 is NOT a replacement for the IMR4350. It is close but not close enough you can use the same charge weights.

Check your seating/crimping die, most of them have 2 adjustments. One pushes the bullet into the case and the other sets the crimp. I forget the proper names for them and i'm sure someone will fill...

I'm not knocking the Taurus handguns at all. I own a couple myself. But after owning and shooting the Ruger, I think he would enjoy it better in .357 and is sure built tighter than my Taurus .44 Mag.
