Use snap caps or spent cartridges when dry firing an older model S&W revolver. My Model 36 is the new one, firing pin's internal. I still use spent casings when dry firing. Old habits die hard. P.S....

Had one in my 38 Super for years, figured it came with. Just recently found out it's an after market item. Pistol operates whether it's in or out, doesn't seem to care.
