I have 2 Kimbers and I'm jonesin' for a DW or an Ed Brown. :)

If you want a good quality 1911, consider Dan Wesson's Commander Bobtail (CBOB). About 1100, but you will have perhaps one of the best 1911's out there for the money right now.

I used a hammer and a hole punch to get the pin out. It took a few solid hits to get it out, but it came out on the 3rd or 4th strike.

No, not in the same way I don't think. I haven't seen a 3" taken apart, so not 100% on that. It IS shorter. Whereas the 5" spring comes out the front with the bushing, the 4" has to use the take...

Probably cosmolene on there.

Brake/Carb cleaner works great on the metal pieces. Just be sure to oil em afterwards - that stuff takes all the protecting stuff off.

How's the stock? Covered...
