When you decock the hammer, you can still fire it with a double action trigger pull. It's not a dead trigger. The gun is DA/SA. I have the P-01 (same thing as the P-06, but in 9mm), and it goes...

Back on topic. To tag off the OP's original question. I have a cz P-01, would that be classified in the stock service pistol category (I believe that's the name of the base cat?)?

I can't tell you the details regarding the exact type of gun that it is, but I can help you with Illinois gun laws a bit.

If you're looking for a 9mm, look at the cz SP-01 (18+1 rounds:D ), or it's "little" brother the cz P-01 (or cz 75 compact). I have the P-01, and my brother has the SP-01. I cannot say enough good...

First, she has to shoot what she likes and is comfortable with, because if she doesn't, she won't practice.

But here is a thought, what about ruger's new SP101 in 327 magnum. It can shoot wimpy...

Dan Wesson?

Hey all, I'm just looking for some thoughts from some of you 1911 "experts". :)

My bro is looking to get a 1911, and is really hot for Dan Wessons. I don't know much about them, though. They...

I simply don't think you can get the gun you want for the price you're suggesting. So here's what you do, sell your body for gun money!

Now let me explain. Find a local plasma donation center. ...

Well, that would seem to be good. But this would all be made much easier if we could just be allowed the rights afforded to us in the constitution. I know, I know, crazy talk!

I try to vote for better reps. But this state is full of crazies.

Some of us are just destined to fight the good fight behind enemy lines. I guess I should think of myself as a freedom...

In other words, for those of poor soul's that live in Illinois or Wisconsin, if we have a an out of state CCP (like from Florida or Utah), we won't be able to carry anywhere. EVEN IF WE CROSS STATE...

Were you shooting the revolver single action or double action? If double, that may be why you were all over the place. Double action trigger pulls definitely take more practice and are more...

I personally think that a wheel gun makes a perfect first gun from a simplicity standpoint. Something like a ruger gp-100 4" would be my first choice in home defense if I were using a revolver. If...

I highly recommend the ruger LCR. Go try them all out at your LGS, you'll find that the LCR has the best trigger of all of them, and is cheaper than the S&W.

a spring kit is cheap and possibly good to have, but I'd recommend shooting it before putting one in. I personally find the new (better) trigger pulls on the rugers to be good "as-is", but trigger...

For HD and target shooting, I'd highly recommend the ruger GP-100. It is probably the strongest built .357 out there. One of the traditional knocks on this revolver, especially compared to S&W, is...

I'd say save an extra ~$100 and get a cz 75b. It probably shoots as good as 9mm's $300 more expensive. They go for around $450 in my area. I've heard the Ruger SR9 is a decent inexpensive 9mm too....

Oh, and if conceal and carry is not what you're going for, I'd highly recommend a Ruger GP 100. My personal preference is one with a 4" barrel. I guess you can see that I really like ruger...

If you're new to shooting, I'd personally recommend a 9mm or 357/38. Yes, a .45 in a 1911 platform would be the best in general, imo. But this can be more expensive, and I've found the .45 to be a...

As to which you caliber you decide on, I can't help you. That's something you'll have to weigh the pros and cons for.

But if you decide to stick with 9mm (or .40 S&W for that matter), then I...

I personally think a ruger GP-100 with a 4" barrel would be a great starter gun for home defense. Practice lots with .38s. Like others have suggested, if you want a gun for home defense, you should...
