Update: so I decided to hold off and shop around some more, and found a good one on gunsinternational. Pretty sure it's an old featherweight. Takedown model made in 1921. All original, no extra...

So I had a chance to pick em up today, and couldn't resist. $340 for the pair. The 91 does have the "SA" stamp, so that explains the Finnish-style sling swivels and whatnot. As for the sniper, the...

I can probably get both of em for under $300. Strange, though, that it has the Finnish features but no Finnish markings. Regardless, it's a neat piece and I'm still chomping at the bit to get back...

Don't really need optics. Ranges here are often so short a scope isn't worth it. I like the good ol iron sights.

I'll check it next time I'm over there. That base might well be a repro. I do remember the other numbers matched, though the barrel is a force-match. Not too worried about it being super accurate...

She's got $175 tag on it, and she'll probably give it to me for around $125. It doesn't have the scope, just the base. It's in good enough shape to put one of those repros on it and make a good...

Part of it is put together. The floor and butt plates are mismatched, but I can't remember about the bolt.
Still trying to figure out how to post pics from my phone, and not going too well

Question about a Finnish Mosin

I came across what appears to be a Finnish conversion M91. It has a Finnish stock, but only the original Russian markings on the receiver. It's dated 1897, and has an early Tula stamp, but none of...

A couple test rounds might have worked fine, but the integrity of that barrel has been significantly weakened, and every round you put through it wears on it a little more. Some round down the road...

I know the mannlicher, just was wondering what kind of rifle it was, whether you got it like that or if it's a custom job.
The value's another reason I'm looking for unmodified.

I just like my old guns in their original configurations. Fancy scopes, stocks and all that jazz just ruin it for me. If I wanna put all that stuff on a rifle, I'll pick up a new 700 or something....

It's in .300 savage. All the savage site says is 1950 or later. The sights alone almost make it worth it. The vast majority of the ones I'm finding are either scoped or rigged for one.

From what I can find so far, I'm pretty sure it's an R variant, made post-1950. Blue book puts it at $600 in 100% condition. This one my amateur eye would rate at 80-90%.

Go for the mosin. If you like the classics and want a Mauser, find one with the original chambering. As far as I'm concerned, that "near mint" thing goes right out the window with the calibre...
