Sealing the bullet to the brass caused the brass to split? I would't think that it could hold that much pressure. Perhaps there was another problem?

+1 to using 6 1/2's if you need to. Benchrest primers - from what I've heard - are harder than the 6 1/2's, but the regular SR primers will work just fine.

I've used Lee dies for years - but I won't use their presses. They loosen up too quickly, and just seem less substantial than my Rock Chucker or T-7. Just my two cents.

Extruded powders don't measure as accurately as spherical powders in powder measures. Chopping it down isn't the way to do it though. My measure shears grains all the time when I'm using Benchmark....
