Thanks for the responses. I could not agree more with you all that the "less lethal" just seems wrong headed when faced with a lethal threat. I just find it interesting that there is such a product...

Less than lethal ammo?

Has anyone had any experience with the "less than lethal" ammo? I just read a brief article on this site and was not aware of it for civilian CC. Usually I carry an XDm .40/3.8, sometimes a "Snubby"....

It's been a couple weeks ago and S&W sent me my new gun. It's a M&P 340CT.

I emailed but did not get an explanation as to their "opinion" for the ka-boom. But I did thank them for the new gun.

One question.. some have suggested a "hot load", would that have deformed the case in any way? They appeared normal after removing them from the cylinder.

The cyl. did stay in one piece, and the barrel,too. S&W, after about 8 weeks informed me I will be getting a new gun. Hope they'll give me some idea of what went wrong.

Update on broken J-frame

Received a brief email from Smith & Wesson. They are replacing the gun. But they cannot say when just yet because of manufacturing backlog. Thank you, S&W. :)

Everything felt normal as each round went off. And I am pleasantly surprised I still have all 10 fingers. In fact I didn't get a scratch.

Both S&W and PMC will get pics and details.

S&W J frame - ka-boom

Went to the range today and fired off 3 rounds of PMC .357 and on the 4th it seemed normal but trying to get the front sight on target for the 5th shot, I realized there was no longer a front sight....
