Some seem to think a smaller caliber but with more ammo is better than a larger caliber with less ammo? Is that correct? 9mm=(11-17 rounds) .45acp=(8-12 rounds)

I've noticed that the Walther(9mm) some of them come with a 15 round capacity and some with a 10 round capacity in the same caliber. What is the difference besides having more ammo?
