Of those you listed, I personally suggest a .45. Good for home defense and a decent plinker. However, .45 ammunition is fairly more expensive than 9mm.

Yes, you can fully load you mag without having to worry about the spring weaking. Prolonged compression does not weaken the spring. Constant compression then decompression does.

About holsters... in my opinion you should avoid nylon. Nylon has a tendency to retain moisture, sweat, that kind of stuff.
