I know this is an old thread but still it is a good question. The answer is that it is a Mil-Spec tube.

I bought one in August 2013 for $800 added a Magpul CTR Stock, Magpul Mbus pop-up front...

I am surprised no one has suggested the Kahr CW9. One of the best bangs for the buck out there IMHO. They can be found for less than $400.
