I'm rather partial to my Kimber Ultra Carry II. 3 inch barrel, 7 round single stack mag. Just as easy to conceal as the XD 9mm but with considerably more punch. YMMV though.

I've got a Panther with a 16 inch barrel. Very happy with it so far. Accurate and reliable, and considerably less than some other ARs at the gun show that day. Picked mine up for just under $800.
