A .223 would be my suggestion. The .270 rounds will add up. There are .223's buildt on the 700 action for about the same cost. I would do a little more shopping around before settling on the .270....

I would stay away from the Alaskan Guide scopes. That came straight from a Cabela's rep. I've had great luck with Nikon scopes and they are priced right.

My 10/22 and my buddies 10/22 both do the same thing with the subs. 10/22's just don't seem to function fully with that ammo.
