270 WSM is a fantastic cartridge, one of my true favorites, but I never loaded mine down below 270 win levels, even at full stroke recoil is quite manageable, less then my 30-06 but still hardly a...

260 Rem can launch .500+BC bullets 3,000+fps or .600+ BC bullets 2,800fps, none of the other 308 based cartridges can touch that. Even plain jane cheap 140gr hunting bullets often have an aprox...

LOL no, not had that issue since switching to the TTSX, but with Sierra bullets I would swab out a considerably amount of lead flakes.

Oh I know they all tear up some meat, but I am talking excessive nasty damage, like having to throw out the whole front half of a deer messy, none of my other rifles do anything like that with SGKs...

Yeah I only use jacket bullets (and TTSX), best I fan figure the rifling is cutting through the jacket, does not seem to hurt accuracy but it might have an effect on terminal performance, using SGKs...

So depth and imperfections in the rifling, do you think that the Tubbs bore polishing system would help with speed and accuracy?

The 7mm-08 has a 22" barrel and the 7mm Rem Mag has a 24" barrel so it in theory should be moving a lot faster then the little 7. 47.5gr Big Game vs 72gr of RL25 both at max load pressure, you would...

I always thought this was overplayed until I started using a chronograph, playing with my two 7mms the other day I found my Browning 7mm-08 was nipping at the heels of my Ruger 7mm Rem Mag (140gr @...

Just to clear a few things up.
Yes 338 cals can exceed the BC of 7mms yet they do not fare well in competition for other reasons.
No the 257 Wby is NOT a 6.5mm it is a .257 cal not a .264.
No the...

It is called BC ballistic coefficient it is how aerodynamic of a bullet is, this allows a bullet to keep speed and reduce wind deflection. 6.5mms are considerably better in this regard, that is why...

The 6.5s are MUCH easier on the shoulder, but I would not say they do everything the 7mms do, the 175gr 7mm is clearly a better choice for trophy elk, moose or bear. The 6.5mm is IMHO superior for...

Seeing as the weakness of 22 cals in general is piss poor penetration you would be wise to choose deep penetrating bullet designs to offset this for anything larger then small cull deer. Barnes TSX,...

Yes it is, the 6.5x55 is the only hunting cartridge easier then the 30-06 to reload for. RL22 for everything 140gr and RL19 or good ol IMR4350 for everything lighter. My little 6.5mm does more...

The 6.5mms are also capable of wielding considerably heavier bullets for larger game, .257 calibers top out at 120gr while a 6.5mm can launch a 160gr of lead, a better choice for the larger deer...

Wow that is a lop sided contest, yes the Wby is by far the faster/flatter cartridge, but the 6.5mm will carry energy better at range thanks to it's higher BC.
Before you go out and by a fancy Wby...
