I would call benelli for another set of plugs first. John_Deer gave the best advice.
A easy fix that would be original and not harm the value of the gun.

The old finish was a shellac, and the alcohol thinned it and it seems to have sealed the wood very well.
I was thinking of giving it a couple coats of paste wax and seeing how it holds up.

I just did a quick refinish/repair on a on a fox Sterlingworth shotgun.
The original finish was very bad as can be seen in the photos.

gluing the crack will not be a problem, the most important thing is clamping the stock and closing the crack.
Before you use any glue make shore you know how it will have to be clamped to close it....
