Practiced and then repeated then repeated again. Definitely am not going to try my hand on an actual part like the bolt release on my Win Mod 70 until my confidence is there and it's not there yet. :o

So what you're saying is keep it as a 7x57 and buy a Swede 96 if I want a 6.5x55? That will work. :D I plan on building a 9.3x62 as soon as a trade for a M98 goes thru. Bad case of the Mausers.:o

Bullets for .45 cal are readily available. Loaded ammunition or cartridges for the 45-75 and 45-60 are not readily available and what is there is expensive. Have you considered reloading?

Looks like headspacing the long chambered Lothars means using a lathe to trim from the barrel breech. About 0.02 inches depending on the headspace measurement. No need to also trim from the barrel...

Thanks....I will try practicing with a good quality triangular wood checkering file first. If I feel confident enough I'll invest in one of the metal checkering files from Brownells or Midway....

Brownells only has the 10 lb pails. I'll be exploring other sources but I have a hunch that I'll soon be equipped to nitre blue for a lifetime.:D
