Say what now? Did you teach yourself to read and write? What about mathematics or literature?
I taught myself how to work on my VW beetle when I was in Jr. High and High School, but a shop class would have been darn helpful and would have certainly sped up the process.
The things "best learned by experience" are the things that are most difficult for students to accept from a teacher. For example, most young men won't accept that "there is always somebody tougher" until they meet an example of such.
I am educated enough and burnt on idealism by experience, IMO.
I realize there is some overlap between knowledge and wisdom, but I think you are confusing the two!
