The 7.62 X 25 and the 7.63 X 25 differ in breech pressure. The 7.63 X 25 or .30 Mauser was a WWl German Ctrg, for the C-96 Mauser Broom Handle. The Communist Block redesigned the .30 Mauser for higher pressures for full auto use and handguns in the 7.62 X 25. The 7.62 X 25 should not be used in the older 7.63 X 25 or .30 Mauser firearms. Both types of ammo are readily available. I think Russian Military surplus FMJ comes under the U.S. "Cop Killer" bullet ban.

Surplus military ball 7.62X25 clocks about 1600-1650 FPS in most handguns. More than adequate to defeat NIJ level ll armor.

It was banned under the stupid AP bill.

I've chronographed some newly manufactured European 7.62X25 in my CZ 52, and the very best was S&B at a lousy 1350 FPS.

You know i heard alot of complaint about using enemy/communist weapon in u.s soil. To be honest if we think about it, they weapon are almost as good as us. For example.

Russian Primary Weapon- Ak-47
Long Rifle - Mosin Nagant.

United State Primary Weapon-M4
Long Range Rifle - .50 Bmg

It a big diffrernce i know, But think about the ammo and the rugged design from the russian weapon system, It be nice if we buy from them and use it in the future.

Lower Cost of Ammo
Never have to clean them.

@TrangTuan,

The problem with some of the Russian ammo is that it is corrosive. You do have to clean your weapon after each use to prevent any damage to your weapon. This is not always the case. You can get some that is not corrosive. Just saying.

Thanks for the info about the 7.62x25 guys. I didn't think the AP ban encompassed velocity, only bullet material and jacket weight to core weight percentage.

Force and penetration are produced by mass and velocity. As Locutus posted it has been determined that the 7.62 X 25 is capable of penetrating some body armor. The S&B is loaded down to 7.63 X 25 pressures. The CZ-52 roller block action can fire the 7.62 X 25 sub gun ammo. The 98 grs. bullet fired from the CZ-52 can exceed 1,600 fps.
