Default what are the top 5 most iconic guns of the us or of the world.
1. AK 47
2. M16/m4
3. Glock
4. Colt single action
5. Remington 870

This is my quick list if i thought for a long time I could probly do a bit better.
Sry about spelling its not my thing.

How about the ones that got us where we are today?

1. M1 Garand
2. Mosin Nagant
3. Pretty much anything Springfield over 100 years ago.
4. Thompson
Last but not least, considered by many to be the greatest...
5. Colt 1911

ok start, but a single action over a 1911? for shame. a single action isnt that iconic, then again i was born when the world already had color tv and automatic transmissions. If someone held me up with a single action i would have to describe it as "some old ass cowboy gun".

The single action changed firearms forever. Made it soooo much quicker and easier to use a firearm.

I think the 1911 is one of the greatest guns ever and I love it but the single action defines the old west. Also these guns are not my favorite guns but the AK everone knows it same with the m16 family the Remington 870 most sold shot gun so I stand by my list in some ways.

i understand the importance just not iconic enough to pic out in a group of old cowboy shooters. you can almost guesstimate the approx age of people by their lists, this is cool.
