That was a great video, scary but great insights....

Now, I have a very open and honest question and HOPEFULLY someone will have an answer to this....

Unless you conducted a private sale and cut out an FFL (which is illegal in most circumstances) my guess is that almost EVERY SINGLE PERSON here bought their guns from a dealer. The dealer makes you fill out the 4473 form and your name, address, social security (if you elect it) and all info now gets processed in the state police database when they enter your driver's license, Right? So whats the huge difference between national registry (which they disguise as universal background checks) and state police registry?

If I am wrong I fully accept that and want to learn the exact difference between a national registration and a state police database.

By law the FBI and law enforcement has to destroy any paperwork regarding a back ground check immediately after completion. This was intentionally set up this way to protect gun owners and prevent the creation of a national database. However, all gun manufacturers are required to keep a record of sales. This theoretically could be used to create a national database.

Wow really? Never knew that...I was under the impression that cops stored every background check with corresponding serial of that transaction for a paper trail.

I see the light now. I understand where certain folks in Congress want this to go. Makes me never want to post up about new/old guns again on here.

How far back do they keep? All the guns my family owns were purchased before I was born (21 years).

A lot of people really prefer private sales, and not necessarily to skirt any legal limitations on their ability to purchase. Swapping firearms is big with the rednecks. I had to tell my nephews to stop telling me about all the firearms their friends have up for trade/sale. One was a Colt 1911a1 in the smaller frame size, last week; if it had been full-sized, i would be really broke right now.

I also have a few firearms bought for me as a kid, my first .22 rifle, my first .410 shotgun, my first .22 repeater, my first pistol, first snubby, etc.

Food for thought indeed. Remember, Hitler was at first elected Chancellor of Germany by a legitimate election. He gradually seized absolute power after this.

Starting to sound familiar?

One of the reasons the Austrians voted him in is that he clandestinely destroyed their economy and came in as a savior promising prosperity. How is our economy doing? Why is Obama spending us into bankruptcy? Getting the picture? Remember the NAZI's were Socialists. We have the potential to be the worlds top oil and natural gas producer but Obama is doing everything he can to prevent it.

They destroy it as soon as the check is complete. They are not allowed to keep records of back ground checks federally. They do keep track of numbers but not names.
