The greatest threat to the Constitution, and the country are the people themselves. Who keeps voting these people into office? Who keeps accepting new laws that are unconstitutional? Who lets the politicians create these laws? The people do. Of course, not all of us do, but apparently enough people to screw up the country do.

You're right. The people are the problem.

I truly believe that's the reason the founders were so careful to write the constitution in such a way that it prevents the country from ever degenerating into a true democracy.

The founders realized that true democracy is unrestrained mob rule. Like the open cesspool known as the E.U.

This may or may not be true - I cannot directly speak to its validity.

What is occurring in the USA (and the world for that matter) is nothing, more- or less, a part of the cyclical nature of Mankind's recurrent history. The basic issue and ultimately cause is the inherently wicked nature of man's heart. Reading history displays the evidence. We humans don't have a sufficient lifespan to see it. We read history and we think we can "fix" man. we can't. Then, in the end we repeat history with simple "variations of a theme".

Albeit, some movements of which are actually begun with so called "good intentions" -sadly of man's making. My father always told me, "Hell is paved with good intentions". At the end of the day, man's "good intentions" never are "good". At their heart they are continually wicked... King Solomon saw it and recorded for all to read.
