Default Vermont City Votes to Ban "Assualt Rifles"

http://www.cnn.com/2013/01/09/us/vermont-assault-rifle-ban-resolution/index.html?hpt=hp_t2

I love this quote:

"But most people at Monday's city council meeting spoke out against the resolution, calling it too broad and unwarranted, according to CNN affiliate WPTZ. Burlington Police Chief Michael Schirling said most gun crime in the city involves handguns, not assault weapons, WPTZ reported."

in other words, the will of the people means JACK SQUAT in Vermont!

but my favorite is:

"He said he was not looking to keep sportsmen from hunting and people from being able to defend themselves but rather wants to make sure what happened in Newtown did not happen in his city."

because, you know, it would be impossible for someone OUTSIDE THE CITY to bring in a damned howitzer and point it at the school! I'll bet they aren't even able to enforce "running with scissors" laws in that town. Over reaction will result in stupid, ineffective rules.

They know exactly what the 2A is about...thats why they need to lie to advance their agenda.

IT is important to remember that many NRA members are of the hunting ilk (like my father in law). He is a life-long gun owner and hunter (his Dad was a live-off-the-land type). He has never owned an "Assault Rifle" (closest thing: he used to own a Remington 742 lol) or a hand-gun. For these guys, the NRA is about making sure they can continue to hunt, that there are safety programs, and many are also very involved with conservation efforts, Elks Foundation, and the like. a LOT of guys like this, and they have been in the NRA since before a lot of you were born - don't be too sure everyone is unified to what YOU believe just because they are in the NRA - that would be a huge mistake.

I think you are grossly underestimating them. Those that head up the anti 2a movement know exactly what they are doing. They are masters of patience and are nickel and diming us to death with little restrictions here and there. The anti's are many things but stupid is not one of them.

I said the other day that I loved the lack of gun restrictions in Vermont. I've been there a number of times and would've moved there if not for the all the snow they get. Burlington's an ultra liberal town, but I'm still surprised it's citizens let them moron politicians pull this garbage on them. If they allow this then they'll be getting what they deserve.

They don't have licensing in Vt., which is unbelievable considering they have that socialist congressman Bernie Sanders and helped put the current regime back into the WH. I was asking how long can they last with their liberal attitude? That ban can almost be compared to the first shot fired at Concord. Apparently if things keep going this way they won't last long at all. Having a city in Vermont ban aw's is unreal, so I must pinch myself to make sure I'm not having a nightmare. This can really get ugly down the road.

The unfortunate part is that KT's going to take a citizen armed with an "assault" rifle, killing a Cop in Defence of his 2A liberties before anything will sink in...and the sad part is that the idiots who passed it would gladly accept a dozen dead cops and hundreds of new convicts in order to get there way.

Advice to Cops...unless you see a guy with orange hair and body armor...ignore this.

It's the "healthy" option!
