The government and the politicians who make up the government give not a $#it about whether you and your family are safe. The only thing they care about is that THEY and their money-mill are safe. In fact, private citizens are considered to be an enemy to be dealt with. The beauty of the 2nd amendment is that it has helped us to be safe from our government for a couple of centuries. But it is constantly under fire, and we have to defend it so we can defend ourselves.

The only thing I fear is our out-of-control govt. As for congress ratifying it or not...they will have no say just like everything else that has been passed by executive order or sign the bill before you can read it.

I've heard from a couple different people that our elected officials are trying to quietly push through a weapons ban with the help of the United nations? I've only heard about it through people I know and haven't seen anything about it anywhere else and different people have told me different things regarding what weapons will be on the list.... is this true? how far along is it? why isn't there more outcry about it?

Looks like the Obama admin is going to revisit the UN small arms treaty, now that the election is over. saw it on Drudge this AM. They say it won't affect our second ammendment rights. Who believes that???
Any treaty has to be ratified by 2/3 of the senate vote, which would be 67. This may or may not be obtainable, but it's been said that Harry Reid just won't allow a vote on it, so it will stand until it can be voted down, which could be until he's gone or if the Repubs regain the senate in 2014.

Not re-visiting; but backng!
Following Obama Victory, U.S. Backs New U.N. Arms Treaty Talks
http://www.theblaze.com/stories/following-obama-victory-u-s-backs-new-u-n-arms-treaty-talks/
Just hours after President Barack Obama secured a second term in the White House, the United States supported the U.N. in its bid Wednesday to reignite talks over an international treaty regulating the $70 billion global conventional arms trade, according to Reuters:
U.N. delegates and gun control activists have complained that talks collapsed in July largely because Obama feared attacks from Republican rival Mitt Romney if his administration was seen as supporting the pact, a charge Washington denies.
The month-long talks at U.N. headquarters broke off after the United States – along with Russia and other major arms producers – said it had problems with the draft treaty and asked for more time.

I have a question about this.
How does UN small arms treaty have sovereignty over domestic US territory?

simple. it doesn't! doesn't mean this liberal gun hating socialist scum that is power won't try and do an endrun around the Constitution if it serves their needs and agendas.
my viewpoint is simple. i feel that i need to abide by the Constitution, not any UN treaties or laws. i am an American citizen, not a subject of the United Nations. i have never uttered a word of oath to the following the UN, so therefore i feel i am under no obligation to them now or in the future.
simple, F&%K the UN and it's blue helmets!
