What is the legal status for tracer rounds? particularly in Michigan

Few states restirct the possession of tracers. Shooting them on public lands is resticted many places because of the fire hazard.

Consider this- most carefully- If you start a fire through negligence- you are liable for the damage, and the cost of fighting the fire. I participated in an investigation of one fire that damages and fire fighting costs are at $6 million- I think it is going to cap out right there. Thank God no one was hurt or killed- it would have been a LOT higher.
We used to set military ranges on fire all the time with tracers. If we were lucky, you could blow small fires out with an 81mm.

Check your state and local laws. Here in sunny Florida, tracers, incendiaries, anything that BURNS or EXPLODES is verboten. As are other fun things like fletchettes. We can't even legally have Spud Guns......
Check the laws before the Law checks YOU!

I did not expect FL to be so restrictive.

Funny thing is, we are very 'machinegun friendly', and we can have switchblades and autoknives!
So I can blast the bad guy full of holes (IF I am Class III compliant) and I can slice him to ribbons - but I can't burn him.......
Every state has their own foibles.......

I think you'll find that while not illegal to posess, tracer rounds, as mentioned can land you in trouble for other reasons, I like to save them for SHTF day...
