I know you are looking for some insight here but I am rather loath to comment on this type of issue. It is not that we don't want to help you out but the fact is this is something that we may be subject to misinformation and might make thing worse. Just hang in there until you see a lawyer.

Unless i misunderstand, the original purchasor made a mistake, a pretty serious one. I don't know the criminal penalties for this mistake. The secondary owner should see a really good attorney, ASAP.

Since the original purchasor, presumably, filled out a 4473 when buying the firearms, they can be traced to that person. I doubt that the original purchasor could claim ignorance of the secondary owner's legal status in relation to owning a firearm.

If this hasn't already discussed with the original purchasor, it should be, in my opinion.

I am not an attorney and am not offering an expert opinion, just a layman's advice.

The third holder of the firearm definately needs a good junk punching, IMO.

^^^what they said. See a lawyer that specializes in firearms law ASAP, and do not post another word about it on an open forum. You have the right to remain silent, use it and let your lawyer do the talking. What you described above may be 3 or 4 different federal laws that have been broken.

It might be in his best interest to have this thread deleted. That possible?

Just a tip, delete your posts ASAP and save all info for your lawyer and whoever HE instructs you to tell what to. Its hard and you want to know, I understand, but don't screw yourself or your family while waiting.
