Default Stand Your Ground and Castle Doctrine

I am concerned about something and perhaps someone can clarify for me.

As I understand, the "Stand Your Ground" legislation in FL is now under attack. I read an article that postulated about the potential for lost of Castle Doctrine in states supporting it, should the SYG law be struck down.

Is this even remotely possible?

Now, couple that with the resident's renewed push for gun control, I can see many socialists rubbing their hands together gleefully.

Thoughts?

I think that is exactly the reason this trayvon case was made so prevalent. Never let an opportunity go to waste.
Yes the laws can be revoked, will it happen, I don't know.
To the best of my knowledge you still have a duty to retreat in my state.

I certainly hope not. But I'm sure the gun grabbers will try to use it as an opportunity.

Unfortunately my state has "become a victim" and "must flee" laws.

This seems to me to be some sort of "What if....?"

Florida has provided surprises before.

I would prefer to wait and see before getting my dander up.

I'm certain the gun grabbers are rubbing their hands together with glee over this and they would love to overturn SYG and Castle Doctrine laws everywhere...

...but they are dreaming.

The Nation is headed in a different direction and has no interest in going back to the 1970's... a time when vigilante movies like "Death Wish" staring Charles Bronson were #1 in the box office because EVERYONE could relate to the fear of being at the mercy of violent criminals.

...and if Sandy Hook could not pull the wool over they eyes of Congress... I highly doubt the current "pity party" for a violent instigator like TM is going to get it done.

The thing the gun grabbers are deliberately ignoring is that Zimmerman was not standing his ground. He was attempting to leave when he was attacked according to the trial. He fired because he could not flee, was being beaten and was in fear of his life.

So... you're saying the other side in refusing to let "inconvenient facts" get in the way of their narrative?

Like I said in another thread... I choose to live with peace in my heart and protection on my hip... and should a self entitled criminal choose to attack me, his consequences will be of his own making.

I doubt if SYG will be overturned in Florida. There are more than a million Concealed Weapons Licensee's here and that number grows every day. Not to mention millions more who own firearms. Comparatively speaking, Florida is pretty gun-friendly.

And just to be clear...the vast majority of firearms-related murders here are young urban guys killing other young urban guys over drugs, women, gang turf, or in the process of robbing convenience stores. And very few of those shooters had an FDLE BG check when they "acquired" their firearm.

What drives me nuts is the ignorant masses and the way the politicians manipulate them like drugged sheep. Stand your ground was not even a part of the Zimmerman trial. The defense waived the stand your ground hearing. He was cleared by reason of self defense as juror B-37 stated last night on the Communist News Network. Zimmerman feared for his life, the jury believed he was the one screaming, justifiable homicide. Case closed.

It won't work.

BUT it may have a chilling effect on getting SYG laws passed in any of the other states. Only 11 states, mostly in the deep south have SYG now. Even here in Wyoming, with a very conservative population and strongly pro-gun legislature, we can't even get SYG out of committee. "Duty to retreat" is so totally ingrained in the people, it wouldn't even pass on a ballot initiative.

Even our "Castle Doctrine" law is weak compared to Florida.

Yet we can carry openly or concealed without a permit.
