Default Is Someone Listening To Us?

I think someone finally might be listening to us(the public). I was reading the news and noticed the wording has changed compared to a few days/weeks ago. It was a reuters article about gun control and for the first time they didn't use the phrase "assault weapon" to describe the gun. They said "assault-style semi-automatic rifle", which I think is a sign that someone is feeling the pressure from all the protesting and fear political backlash perhaps.

Quote: "The gunman, Adam Lanza, 20, used an assault-style semi-automatic rifle."

They even went as far as to announce that this part of the article was corrected at the bottom of the page.

Quote: "This story has been corrected to fix description of weapon in 12th paragraph to semi-automatic"

I'm curious to who, how, or why they changed it after the story had been written.

The reason this is happening could be due to the fact that Reuters isn't a US based news agency, therefore not run by the left.

Reuters is still a left leaning news organization. No where near as bad as most American media outlets. That is good news, though (no pun intended!) it does have a history of controversy behind it, probably most notable their use of the word "terrorist". They are, IMHO, the most even handed of the news agencies out there. Can't please everyone.

Their left leaning ways are still far to the right of the left leaning American media.

Also, they aren't subject to the "oh, we have to paint everything that Obama and the Democrats say in a very positive way, and demonize anyone that is against them" mentality of the NY Times.

Though, with the use of the word "terrorist", wouldn't it be more of their lack of the use of it?

No, it's Reuter view that our terrorist is someone else's freedom fighter. So they use italics with the word, i.e. "terrorist". They caught a lot of flack about it. I agree with them. They don't slant it to the US government, or to the British governments for that matter, considering they're out of London. They, above all others, "seem" to do it right.
