Sen. Feinstein suggests national buyback of guns

Sen. Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif., said that she and other gun control advocates are considering a law that would create a program to purchase weapons from gun owners, a proposal that could be compulsory.
“We are also looking at a buy-back program,” Feinstein said today in a press conference. “Now, again, this is a work in progress so these are ideas in the development.”
Gov. Andrew Cuomo, D-N.Y., already discussed the possibility of a buy-back law for his state, but he made clear it would be a forced buyback.

“Confiscation could be an option,” Cuomo told The New York Times yesterday when discussing semiautomatic weapons. “Mandatory sale to the state could be an option. Permitting could be an option — keep your gun but permit it.”

Australia implemented a mandatory buyback program in 1996 following a mass shooting. “The law banned semiautomatic and automatic rifles and shotguns and put in place a mandatory buy-back program for newly banned weapons,” USA Today recalls. “The buyback led to the destruction of 650,000 gun.”

Let me guess, they'll give me $100 and a lollipop for a $5200 semi automatic fire arm that would shoot through my brick wall and a car door in my drive way.

They're not being too creative there are they?

Just seen something on the news in Los Angela's they're buying back guns for $100 and an extra $100 for "assault" weapons. There were a ton of people turning in guns. Kinda scary

The big problem there is that they don't care whose gun you turn in. Take a stolen gun to a pawn shop and it is going to be checked to see if it was stolen. Steal a gun one night and turn it in to the cops the next morning and you get $100 free and clear. It's nice to see the government subsidizing burglary.

I was thinkin about that. Looked like you drop it off and go with no paperwork. Murder someone and drop the evidence off to be destroyed. How convenient

There was an episode of 'Blue Bloods' that had this. A cop recognized a gold Desert Eagle used in a crime that was being thrown in the pile, had a video of the guy receiving his $100. They coudn't do anything about it because of the anonymity associated with the buyback program.

Funny how they call it a " buy back " I didn't know the government ever owned my guns !? How can they buy something back that never belonged to them??

What ever they want to call it..... Not for sale!!!

I don't understand how they think they could possibly do so, they could never even do nation wide registration never mind nation wide buy backs.
