Thumbs down SB1007 magazine ban in Illinois

Illinois passed SB1007 yesterday in the senate by a narrow margin, and now it will move onto a house vote. If the house passes this thing there is no chance our socialist Governor will veto it. The sick thing is the bill started as a piece of legislation to protect children from pedophiles. Then some Senator on the Brady Campaigns payroll tacks on a ban for magazines over ten rounds. Is there any level politicians won't sink to ?

He did not just tack it on the existing bill; he replaced the content of the bill with the new one, effectively gutting the old bill.

This is the Bill SB1007 About the Sexual exploitation of a child.

http://www.ilga.gov/legislation/fulltext.asp?DocName=09500SB1007&GA=95&SessionId=5 1&DocTypeId=SB&LegID=28858&DocNum=1007&GAID=9&Sess ion=

Line 2 and 3 of the bill this is the enacted part at the begaining.

2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3 represented in the General Assembly:

This is the new Bill, about large capacity ammunition feeding devices

http://www.ilga.gov/legislation/fulltext.asp?DocName=09500SB1007sam001&GA=95&Sessi onId=51&DocTypeId=SB&LegID=28858&DocNum=1007&GAID= 9&Session=

Now look at line 2 and 3 of the new bill

2 AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend Senate Bill 1007 by replacing
3 everything after the enacting clause
with the following:

This replaces everything in the old Bill starting from line 2, which removes everything related to the old Bill

That's a disgrace. We have similar nonsense going on here in NY. And today I read the New Jersey legislature is looking to ban .50 cal rifles.

We can all become criminals if we wait long enough for laws like these to be passed.

Guns are a strong deterrent.

Guns are a strong deterrent to many things such as crime, invasion, dictatorship, and genocide. But man is much stronger, with his will and a little elbow grease he can defeat many things before they happen. In the case if Illinois SB 1007 which bans high capacity magazines, a bill that literally replaced a child protection act. The people of that state needs to make a stand and vote the people out of office who changed the bill from a bill that would help protect children,

http://www.ilga.gov/legislation/fulltext.asp?DocName=09500SB1007&GA=95&SessionId=5 1&DocTypeId=SB&LegID=28858&DocNum=1007&GAID=9&Sess ion=

To a fear-mongering bill to prevent law abiding citizens from getting high capacity magazines.

http://www.ilga.gov/legislation/fulltext.asp?DocName=09500SB1007sam001&GA=95&Sessi onId=51&DocTypeId=SB&LegID=28858&DocNum=1007&GAID= 9&Session=

It would seem that if a person is more interested in banning something for your own good, in lew of a bill that would actually help protect children from predators, these people need to be removed from office and never allowed to hold any form of public position again.

The power lies with the People and not the Government so if you are from Illinois then write your state legislatures and voice you displeasure. Let them know that you will remember how they voted in there upcoming election. If you are not from Illinois you can still write them about the distasteful act of changing a bill to protect children to a feel good bill that only hurts the law-abiding citizen.

The trouble is if we don't stop it here in Illinois, it will eventually go to Kentucky and the rest of the nation. Before long, we'll be out of places to run to.

If it passes, it will be time for a little civil disobedience.
