Default S. Court Rules Against Chicago Gun Control

The Supreme Court just ruled that Chicago's ban on retail Gun stores is unconstitutional. The City council then speedily and unanimously voted to only allow gun stores in certain areas banning them in other areas and vowed to be looking at every person who purchases a firearm. This will undoubtedly result in more law suits as stores are still banned in 99.5 percent of the city. It appears that Chicago is thumbing it's nose at the Supreme Court justices and at the same time practicing civil disobedience. MSNBC last night ran a lengthy segment on Chicago violent crime statistics. The segment oddly enough supports the claim that Chicago's crime rate has not been lowered in spite of gun control. Of course, MSNBC is rabidly pro gun control so a significantly lower crime rate does not promote the need for more gun control like a school yard massacre does. The theme of the expose was that the Chicago police department is classifying violent crimes as non violent crimes or not at all in order to show a lowered crime rate. Is it a coincidence that this segment appeared in the same week as the supreme court decision?

Obama once again embraced Australia's gun control laws on June 10th. During an online forum sponsored by Tumblr he launched into an anti gun tirade after being asked a question. He not only advocated limiting gun purchases and ownership but also the sales of ammunition. I would love to see someone ask him whether he is familiar with the crime rate in Switzerland where every adult male by law is required to undergo military training and keep a fully automatic government issued firearm in the home. Switzerland has the lowest gun related crime rate in the civilized world. 47 percent of the population own guns. The United States was third. Mexico was number one out of 36 countries. Switzerland was 31 out of 36 countries in rapes per thousand population. The United States was 12th.
