Registering old handguns
Hey all, sorry if there is a similar topic already, but I did a search and couldn't find anything. Anyway:
Hypothetically, if a person was to be looking through their grandparent's, uncle's, or any relative's garage, closet, attic, etc and found some old handguns, can they be registered ? This is assuming that these handguns are clean, not stolen, and not registered. Is there a process to get them registered?

Hypothetically, now that you have posted this in an open searchable forum, you have a choice: Keep them until you can move out of the PRNY or call your local District Attorney and see what you have to surrender to the PD and what you can register and keep, hypothetically speaking.

Just curious, a coworker and I were discussing shady gray areas of gun laws, this being one of them.

Handguns in NY???
Somewhere between NY and CA is the REAL USA.
States that demand people become victims can't be part of this union.
Must be like the red headed step child from down south, part of the family, buttttttttttt!

Although not a lawyer.....
Follow the State Statutes and Federal regulations on firearms.
